Beginning My Degree

I am going to be starting my (BA) Fashion Media and Marketing Degree at Plymouth College of Art. The degree covers many elements that are vital in the fashion industry, for example; journalism, photography, trend forecasting, styling and marketing strategies. These will all provide me with important knowledge that will be necessary when I venture into the fashion world.

My first brief is to predict three upcoming trends for Autumn/Winter 16/17, and display my findings and ideas across nine moodboards (three moodboards per trend). As well as this, I have to design packaging for Autumn/Winter 16/17, exploring materials and package design. Throughout the brief I will need to display my journey and research in my sketchbook, making sure I reference clearly and annotate to explain my thoughts and ideas.

My second brief is to create a marketing campaign for the designer brand Kenzo. I will need to discover the brands' audience demographic, interests and hobbies to help the company to move forward through their marketing strategies in hopes of propelling their sales and increasing their following across all social media platforms. This process that I will undertake will be shown through my website, as well as presenting a campaign plan and also by documenting my research in a research file.

I will also be participating in a contextual studies module in which I will be required to complete several writing tasks covering fashion and culture. I am also going to be a part of a group presentation exploring perspectives on fashion, as well as a small presentation on Mario Testino. In my second semester I will have to complete an essay on one of the aspects of fashion history or theory identified in my lectures.

I look forward to sinking my teeth into all of these tasks and producing professional and creative products/outcomes.
