Cruise 2015: Chanel
The Cruise 2015 Chanel collection is one of the most talked about fashion shows this year, and I certainly understand why. Karl Lagerfeld, a fashion genius, hosted the show on a man-made, remote island in Dubai. It isn't the stereotypical desert island covered in sand, after all, this is Chanel we're talking about. Picture a palace made entirely out of ivory. Yes, I know what you're thinking, unbelievable! However, the luxurious mansion did contain palm trees, which gave out a serene vibe, so island elemements weren't completely lost. Karl Lagerfeld said, “This is something we could not dream of fifteen, 20 years ago, look at this island, it’s like Atlantis, which rose out of the sea!” Oh yes, it looks spectacular.
Being a student, I have nowhere near the right amount of funding to go to such incredible events, so it has made me insanely eager to work hard and get where I want to be. As I sat staring at my computer screen waiting for the online show to start, I kept refreshing my Instagram feed for updates on the show and the latest looks appearing on the runway.
Anyway, back to the show. It was filled with '70s-inspired sillhoettes and the signature tailored tweed . The juxtaposition of delicate embroidery and fluffy curled hair created a local influence from Dubai. Amongst the whirlwind of gorgeous models, from Leona Walton to Charlotte Free, the adorable Hudson Kroenig made an appearance. Uncle Karl is probably one of the best relatives you could have, and I admit, I'm a little jealous of Hudson.
Now that this years Chanel Cruise 2015 show is over, all I have left is the anticipation and excitement for the Spring/Summer 2015 show. I wonder what the next show and collection will contain, maybe they'll actually do a show in Atlantis, who knows?
